What to put in a game room

If you are building a game room from scratch you have a lot of options on what to place in it.  Most people have an idea of what they want to be the focal point and then build around that.  These days you can buy an entire matching game room in one shot or do it the old way of piecing a piece or two in until you have it the way you like it.

A pool table is commonly used as that focal point but it can be a poker table, bar, shuffleboard table or something else.  What ever your centre piece is make sure you give it enough room to play comfortably with room for spectators.  Drawing a room plan either on room planning software or grid paper is good way to start laying it out.  When you are a little further down the road laying out the furniture and games with tape or newspaper is also a good idea.

Common pieces of a game room are:

Pool table

Poker table and chairs

Home bar and bar stools

Pub table and stools

Spectator chairs – these are high chairs to sit on will watching a game.

Shuffleboard table

Foosball table

Air hockey table

Dome hockey table

Arcade games

Pinball games

Dart Board – either steel or soft tip electronic

Fireplace or stove

Big screen TV

There are many ways to fill your space and create a fun, styley place to relax and entertain.
