It’s no surprise when anyone hears the word inflatable pool the first thing that comes to mind are those kiddie pools we had as children – small, shallow, takes forever to blow up and has a very short lifespan. Today’s inflatable pools have come a long way. People now have the option to forego permanent and costly excavations but still get to enjoy the fun a swimming pool brings.

Are Inflatable Pools Durable?

Today, inflatable pools are better constructed as compared to old ones which seldom last a season. Moreover, they come in a variety of fun prints, shapes and sizes. Made of closely woven polyester or nylon stitched between two layers, it assures you of durability as well as air and water tightness. It is also resistant to scratches. Some are made of strong, marine grade type of vinyl and are designed to last longer. They are also easy to assemble and larger styles often come with filter pumps to keep the water nice and clean. Larger sizes can fit from two to three people a whole family, with toys, including floats and other fun things a person could want in a pool. Some inflatable pools are big that one would need a ladder to get in and out of the water. And for additional support, larger pools may come with metal framings.

However, just like with any swimming pool, your inflatable pool needs regular maintenance and care too. These care and maintenance include testing the water from acidity, alkalinity, PH levels, checking and changing filters, hoses as well as ensuring the pumps are in good running condition. This can be done two to three days a week, depending on how often your pool is used. It’s also a good idea to keep a patch kit on hand to repair any small holes as a tiny hole can quickly become a large hole and lead to yard flooding.

Why Opting For Inflatable Pools Is Not A Bad Idea

  • Provides a practical and inexpensive facelift to a gloomy backyard

Top Tips On Choosing The Right Inflatable Pool For Your Family

1. Size

Decide where you want to place your swimming pool, then, take measurements of that area. Make sure to give ample allowance around the pool so you can move around the pool easily and install any pool supports if necessary.

2. Type

Inflatable swimming pool sizes can vary from 8 to 20 feet; the bigger it gets the more expensive. Decide which swimming pool would be best for your family size and your budget. Above ground pools, like inflatable pools, are cheaper as compared to steel permanent pools

3. Shape

Inflatable swimming pools are available in rectangular, circular and oval shapes.

4. Filter

There are three types of filters namely D.E. or Diatomaceous Earth, Sand filter and Cartridge. Filter selection should also depend on the size of pool. For instance, for big pools, a large cartridge filter is better than a D.E.. For above ground pools, sand filters are commonly used because of their low prices. Sand filters can trap particles up to 20 microns in size, while a cartridge filter can trap particles up to 10 microns, and D.E filters can trap particles up to 4 microns.

5. Depth

If you have kids, it is important to take note of the depth of the pool so you can prevent drowning accidents.

Nothing is more fun than spending time with your family. With inflatable pools, you and your family can have splashing fun in the water without spending a fortune.
