Gathering Tables. Game Tables. Poker Tables.

Game tables

Game tables have many names.  The most common are poker tables, gathering tables or games room tables.  Game tables are an excellent addition to any game room. They are a classic focal point in the room or a perfect compliment to the pool table or other games. There are various shapes and sizes and styles to consider when adding the game table to your room. Most game tables are furniture pieces that are constructed of hardwood like oak, maple or cherry. The table sets can often be ordered in different finishes and wood species that will match your décor. The standard game set will include four game chairs with it, with the option to add more chairs if necessary.

Table Sizes

Depending on the room size and space allocated for the game table, they are available in different sizes. There are 48”, 54”, and 60” round, hexagon, and octagon table sizes available. There are also oval shaped “Texas hold-em” style tables to choose from usually 72” to 90” lengths. All of the mentioned size tables normally come with at least 6 to 8 seat areas with poker chip trays and coasters built into the tables for playing cards and enjoying a beverage. Some game tables may be offered in a taller height than traditional tables. These heights would be considered counter or bar the little bit taller bar height, and would be accommodated with counter or barstools rather than a standard game chair.

Game Chairs

Game chairs traditionally are dining height and may come in a club style (stationary with four legs) or caster style (5 legs protruding outward starfish shaped with caster wheels). Club style chairs are an elegant casino-like style that do not rotate or height adjust and are solid wood with upholstered seats and backs. The caster style game chairs usually swivel, can roll back and forth on the caster wheels, come with adjustable gas lift heights, and also come with upholstered seats and backs.

2 in 1 vs. 3 in 1

The non Texas hold-em style game tables often come in a 2 in 1, or a 3 in 1 version. The 2 in 1 table simply means that the game table top can be lifted up and flipped over exposing a dining table top on the reverse side. Sometimes having a convenient storage area underneath the top for games, puzzles, cards and poker chip storage. The 3 in 1 table has the same flip-top, however where the storage area would normally be, there is a bumper pool game that is played with shortened pool cues and 5 red and 5 white billiard balls, offering a whole new exciting aspect to the games table.

So whichever size, shape, height, and style table is best for you and your family, a game table can offer many memorable good times and options to enhance the beauty and fun of your game room.
