The great thing about swimming as a form of exercise versus most other methods is that you burn calories without breaking out in a sweat. However, having a full-sized pool at home could be quite challenging in the pocket because of maintenance and could be impractical if you do not have enough space at home to accommodate this vast body of water. But thanks to the endless pool, you can have this “no sweat treadmill” at the comfort of your home without worrying about space and water consumption. You can even have it installed indoors!

What is an Endless Pool?

The name may suggest that an endless pool is a gigantic kind of pool, but don’t be deceived. On the contrary, it is much, much smaller than the typical swimming pool. This special pool is engineered to allow exercise in water, much like a treadmill where you run in place but obtain the effect of covering some distance, but in this case, you swim in place. Plus the bonus is that you do not sweat, but still you are sure to burn calories, work out your cardiovascular system. You can also use this kind of pool to improve your swimming skills or simply to relax and have fun just like you do in any ordinary pool.

A typical endless pool measures about 2.4 by 4.6 meters, with a depth of one meter, although you can have yours tailored to fit your specific requirements during installation. Its small footprint makes it possible to have it installed indoors or in limited spaces of the backyard. It is even possible to relocate it if you change your mind as to where you want to place it. If installed indoors, a filter system is often used to prevent the common odor of swimming pools, and a cover to prevent moisture from causing damage to other parts of the house.

How Does an Endless Pool Work?

An endless pool works just like a treadmill, but it instead uses water. It produces a current in the water that you swim against. This will make you feel as if you are swimming a longer distance. You can continuously swim without having to be interrupted by the end of the pool where you have to turn and push off again. Hence, it is called endless pool. Just like the treadmill, you can control your swimming pace by adjusting the current according to your fitness level.

An endless pool is a perfect alternative to regular-sized pools if you have space limitations. It is a great exercise machine to have at home.
